Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of dance and the core of almost all other dance styles. It develops grace, flexibility, strength, and discipline while teaching the beauty and artistry of classical dance.

At the Edmunds Towers School of Dance, our ballet program follows the syllabus set forth by the Cecchetti Council of America. This method is based on the teachings and writings of Cav. Enrico Cecchetti and is organized in a progressive sequence of grades. It provides our students with a system of accredited examinations that measure proficiency at each level.

All ballet dancers at our studio begin in Primary I, followed by Primary II and Primary III. After completing these levels, dancers move into classical ballet training. When studying the Cecchetti syllabus, a minimum of two ballet classes per week is recommended. Dancers may have the opportunity to participate in accredited examinations once they have developed the necessary skills for that level. Cecchetti exam classes are offered for those who wish to achieve certification and may one day pursue a teaching career.

Pre-Pointe

Pre-pointe classes are designed to prepare dancers for pointe work. During these classes, dancers strengthen their feet and ankles while focusing on proper alignment, technique, and control. Exercises may include the use of tools such as resistance bands to safely build the strength required for pointe.

Pointe

Pointe classes are offered to dancers who have successfully completed pre-pointe training and demonstrated the strength, technique, and maturity required to safely dance en pointe.
